In mint visually stunning condition, we have a very scarce all matching late 1934 production Mauser “Banner K” unattributed (non-cartouched) 98K Mauser Service Rifle. Most Banner K rifles were Property marked by a cartouched stock and issued to the Postal & Railway Security Forces, and the SA. When these contracts were filled, they started going to SS, the Nazi Police apparatus and other Governmental agencies. This example was produced in 1934 at the end of the production run, just prior to the production roll out of the Model K98k.
Late Production Banner K Rifles like this are called un-attributed due to the fact that there is no stock cartouche indicating which agency used them. The likely end users of this rifle would have been the Police and especially by the SS, who were locked out by the Army from Military firearms procurement and purchased arms directly from private sources.
Banner K Mauser rifles are considered by collectors to be the absolute apex of the 98 Mauser rifles in terms of quality, fit and finish and sheer beauty, as they were made to the highest Mauser Commercial standards. No serious Mauser Collection can be without at least one or two examples; they are very significant in both the design and their service use throughout the WW2 era. Mauser rifles from the early rough and tumble Nazi era rarely come up on offer and never this crisp!!!
