This actual rifle is the ar44 example pictured on page 232 of Backbone of the Wehrmacht. In mint crisp all matching 100% original condition, we have a very rare ar 44 code K98k Mauser Rifle. While the code represents Mauser Borsigwalde, they did not produce rifles in 1944, and the un-used parts inventory was shipped to Mauser Oberndorf who assembled the rifle, as you will notice the 135 proof on the receiver and on the stock. These ar 44 marked rifles are extremely scarce and show up sporadically in late 1944 production. This is one of the hardest to find of the 1944 maker date codes and this is a prime example a truly scarce Mauser rifle.
