In excellent all matching condition, we have an extremely rare K98k Rifle. This is a XXth ( 20th Military District, Danzig) located in Graudenz Depot scratch built K98k Rifle. To be clear, this is not a rebuild or repair, this is a newly built K98k rifle,built out of new un-used spare parts and reclaimed parts. To make this even more Rare, the Spare armorers receiver used is BSW marked, also an extreme rarity. The date of this build is 1942, as that date is marked on the stock takedown washer assembly.
The background of these rifles is worth discussing, when Russia was Invaded in 1941 there developed shortages across the whole spectrum of German Military related production and output could to keep up with demand from the front. Small arms were no exception and there was a critical rifle shortage in 1941-42. To help alleviate this problem various Depots assembled complete new rifles from the parts they has on hand from 1941 into early 1942 when these supplies were exhausted. This rifle represents one of those very rare examples that have survived. A rifle such as this would be of extreme interest to the advanced K98k collector and any collector that appreciates the unique history of these rarely see rifles.
