This is an all matching, very early production example of the last ditch end of war Yokosuka Naval Yard made Special Type 99 Rifle. Â This crude monstrosity was made out of cast iron, the only steel used was the barrel and the bolt. Â The lugs of the bolt actually lock into the barrel instead of the crudely made cast iron receiver. Â These rifles were to be used in emergencies only and firing one could be considered an act of extreme desperation bordering on suicide. Â These things are matched by an assembly number. Â The later production examples are made even more crudely than this rifle. Â Never the less, this is a highly collectible Japanese Martial arm and no serious Japanese rifle collector would be without at least one example in there collection.
