This very rare sling came from the extensive collection of the late Hugh Brock. It is made of a type of ersatz leather that is still flexible after nearly 75 years. The material appears to be constructed of a fabric core that is covered in a molded rubberish plastic or vinyl material. the small parts are still made of leather. The buckle which indicates the maker of the sling is the the very well known SC with a tree trade mark, one of he more commonly seen markings on German WW2 slings. I am not certain when this sling was made but there was a sever leather shortage in Germany in 1941 so it may date from that time, or it may have been made in 1944. This is the only example of this type of sling that we have seen, and it certainly is esoterically rare.
