In excellent all matching factory original condition, we have a top example of a 1940 Terni Arsenal manufactured Model 38 Short Rifle in 6.5 Carcano. Due to the unsuccessful attempt to change over to the 7.35 caliber which was suspended due to the onset of war, the M38 short rifle in the old standby 6.5 caliber was the prime infantry rifle of the Italian Army in WW2. This example is still with the original sling and as it is a Terni produced rifle it has the distinctive double sling mounting hardware that was only used on rifles produced at this arsenal. It has always been a bit of a challenge to find this variant of rifle in top condition, there are tons of 7.35 variants in high condition because they were largely spared use and most were shipped up to the Finns who did not use them much either. The 6.5 caliber weapons were used heavily in combat and that is why finding a decent example is challenging. If you are looking for a top example of the main Italian Service Rifle of WW2 here is a very presentable example.
