This is the Mother of all Spanish Model 1893 Mauser Rifles! In excellent minus all matching condition, we have an almost unheard of 1896 dated DWM manufactured Model 1893 7mm Spanish Mauser Rifle cartouched to the Spanish Navy (Ma) for Marina (Marines) or Naval Infantry. These rifles are esoterically rare and this is one of the few known to exist in the entire world. They are identified by the DWM address on the side of the receiver and no crest on the tope and a unique Spanish State Cartouche and Ma on the stock. The bore is decent and the stock is quite attractive.
This is a very historical piece that was said to have been a war trophy that was brought back from Cuba at the end of the Spanish American War. According to Ball, he has only ever seen one of these very rare rifles according to his book Mauser Military Rifles of the World 4th edition. This rifle probably belongs in the NRA museum. This will be one of the rarest and most attractive and historically significant rifles to grace any collection.
