In 98% new in box condition, we have a Pre War Colt Government Model National Match Pistol with the Original Box and paperwork that was shipped to Abercrombie and Fitch on August 11, 1936. The pistol is in exceptional condition and is visually stunning, and is 100% factory original and correct. The original factory matching numbered box that still contains the original test target numbered to the gun, the manual and a pamphlet on shooting. The box its’self is in excellent condition with no added tape. It is remarkable that such a thing could have survived this intact for so many years.
Only 4,800 of these pistols were made prior to the outbreak of WW2 as they were prohibitively expensive as this was during the depression years. They were the finest automatic pistols that Colt made at the time and they are legendary among collectors. This pistol was part of a 2 gun shipment to the famous New York Sporting Goods dealer Abercrombie and Fitch in August of 1936. Finding one such as this example with the box and paperwork is a significant find and will be a wonderful acquisition for any advanced Colt collector.
