In excellent minty condition we have a very clean well marked all matching Luftwaffe Eagle/L marked byf 41 coded,1941 Production Mauser Oberndorf made K98k Service Rifle. This rifle is factory original in all respects and is completely matching. It came out of the woodwork and was a WW2 vet bring back. It has not been duffle cut and the bore is mint. The blueing is very bright on the receiver and the stock is very crisply cartouched. This is one of the cleanest early war 98k’s that we have had in a long time, and I can assure you that I would have no problem adding this one to my own collection. This is one of the first rifles that Mauser made with the cupped buttplate, you will notice that they even numbered these initially. This is the classic early war example of the Mauser 98k. It also has a very nice original marked wartime sling as well.
Finding a mint matching 98k rifle is much harder than finding a nice all matching Luger, many were brought back after the war but most of those rifles were turned into more useful deer rifles, by modifying or converting into sporting rifles. Today, finding a clean example such as this is not an easy thing to do as most have been in collections for years and rarely surface. Being Luftwaffe issued adds greatly to the Allure of this rifle; it could have been used by Paratroopers or to arm the crew of the dreaded 8.8cm Flak/Anti-Tank gun in the Desert of North Africa.
