IN 98% CONDITION, WE HAVE A HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER US NAVY MARKED AND ISSUED SMITH & WESSON VICTORY MODEL REVOLVER IN .38 SPECIAL CALIBER. THIS IS STILL WITH THE EXTREMELY RARE NAVAL AIR STATION NORFOLK, VA ASSEMBLY AND REPAIR DEPARTMENT MARKED EARLY 1940-1942 SHOULDER HOLSTER. THIS VERY RARE HOLSTER PRE-DATES THE M3 SHOULDER HOLSTER AND WAS THE EARLIEST NAVAL AVIATION SHOULDER HOLSTER IN USE DURING AND PERHAPS EVEN PRIOR TO THE OUTBREAK OF WW2. THEY ARE RARE AND SELDOM ENCOUNTERED; MOST DID NOT SURVIVE THE WAR. THE REVOLVER IS ALL MATCHING INCLUDING THE GRIPS.
THE HOLSTER IS ALSO NAMED TO A NAVY LTjg OF VF-5, THE NAME IS HARD TO READ, THIS SQUADRON PLAYED A VERY IMPORTANT PART IN THE EARLY FIGHTING IN THE PACIFIC AND WAS FOR A TIME PART OF THE CACTUS AIR FORCE AT GUADALCANAL. NAVY VICTORIES ARE VERY GOOD INVESTMENTS AND HAVE BEEN CLIMBING FAST IN VALUE. THIS IS THE MOST WIDELY ISSUED SIDE ARM TO THE NAVY IN WW2; JFK HAD ONE ON THE PT109 AND GHW BUSH HAD ONE AS WELL. IT IS ONE OF THE ICONIC SYMBOLS OF US NAVY CARRIER AIR CREW, EVERYBODY CARRIED ONE. THIS HOLSTER IS A HUGE BIG DEAL!
