In excellent condition, we have an extremely attractive almost presentation grade Amberg 1917 dated Gew.98 Rifle. The rifle is totally matching and has a mint bore. what makes this even more desirable is that it is marked to the “EWB”, the Einwohnerwehr Bayern, a Bavarian para-military anti-communist Proto-Nazi Police force/Goon Squad, which operated from 1918 to 1921 that suppressed the communist forces and maintained order in Munich. This group evolved into the Friekorps and then the Nazi party. So, whoever had this rifle was a very likely a very early Nazi party member or sympathizer
This rifle is all matching with a mint bore, the stock is crisp and clean with very clear cartouches. The maker Amberg Arsenal is somewhat rare as well. This is a great example of a Gew 98 with beautiful wood very hard to upgrade this rifle!
