In the year of 1916, Colt produced only 4,214 Model 1911 Pistols for the US Government, it was the lowest year of production and they are seldom seen in any condition. Almost all of these pistols when completed were sent to the Commanding Officer at Springfield Armory but on November 4, 1916 a shipment of 700 pistols was sent to the Commanding officer, Hawaiian Ordnance Depot, Honolulu, Territory of Hawaii. This is the only shipment of 1911 pistols that are known to have been sent to the Islands. I would have to imagine that any Colt 1911 collector with an affinity for Hawaii would jump out of his skin to get this pistol. As far as the condition of the firearm, it is 97% with nice straps, and some very slight age blemishing to the finish on the top of the slide. A very sharp looking pistol, 100% factory original. Absolutely one of the hardest Colt 1911 pistols to get and doubly desirable from the shipping standpoint.
