This is certainly one of the rarest and most significant Mauser Rifles that we have ever had on offer, and likely will be your sole chance to obtain so early and significant of an example. In very sharp all matching condition, we have an extremely early 1889 first year & inside the first 5000 production MAE (The Belgian State Arsenal) made Model 1889 Belgian Mauser Service rifle in 7.65mm Mauser. MAE only made two letter blocks in 1889 and then FN took over manufacture of the Rifle at their newly built plant in Liege beginning in 1890. This is completely matching with an excellent bore and the cartouches are just stunning. This rifle is also unit marked “N” to the Belgian 14th Line Infantry Regiment. These markings are located at the of the buttplate.
The rarity and the desirability of this rifle cannot be overstated…It is both one of the earliest known intact surviving Belgian Model 1889 Mauser Rifles and it is also one of the most significant Belgian Military weapons to come on the market. The M1889 Mauser was the Belgium service rifle of WW1 and few survived; how this rifle is still intact is a minor miracle. It is no stretch to say you will never have another chance to own so rare and historical a Belgian Mauser than this.
