SOLD IMPORTANT EXCEPTIONAL VERY EARLY 4 DIGIT FIRST MONTH PRODUCTION WINCHESTER US WW1 M1917 RIFLE…STUNNING CONDITION

In stunning excellent condition, we have a very rare very early initial first months trial production 4 digit serial number US  M1917  30-06 service rifle.  The barrel is dated 8-1917 which was the first months production and rifles in this range were known to have been used in parts interchange tests. This could in fact be considered to be a pre production or very early initial production test piece and this may account for the exceptional state of preservation.  The condition of this rifle is absolutely stunning, the blue finish is of a very high quality and the stock is stunning as well.  This is probably the finest known example of a Winchester M1917 rifle, especially one this early and the rifle has been pictured in several books.  For the serious and advanced collector of Martial Winchesters this would be an ultimate example.  A serious collector once told me, “you can find money, but you will never find this gun”
