In 98%+ mint crisp condition 100% correct and original, we have a top example of a March, 1943 production Colt 1911a1 US Army Service Pistol. This is in the duplicate serial # range with Ithaca, which makes it a tad more desirable. The pistol has the factory matching numbered slide and the correct Colt P proofed military barrel. The bore is mint as well. You will also notice the nice colt large ring grips. This pistol is in it’s factory original condition and finish, exactly as it was when it was shipped from Colt’s to The Springfield Armory in April of 1943. This is the Classic G.I. issue Colt .45 auto that your grandfather could well have carried.
It’s no secret that we sell more vintage military 1911 Pistols than any other dealer in the country and this early mid war production Colt is the bread and butter gun of the firm. This is exactly what collectors want in a US WW2 pistol, they want a Colt and they want one that was made early enough in the war to still have a numbered slide and they want one that looks like it could have come right out of a time machine. This is a prime example of one of the most iconic pistols ever made and a true tangible piece of American Military History.
