SOLD SCARCE VERY EARLY SAUER H MODELL PISTOL…….JAN, 1940 PRODUCTION……WITH FACTORY PAINTED SIGHTS……UBER RARE!

In 97% very sharp condition, we have a fairly scarce and very early J.P. Sauer Modell 38H Pistol.  This pistol was made in very early 1940 and is Crown N proofed, not the later Eagle N proof.  This pistol also has factory original painted sights as pistols is this serial range are all known to have.  The pistol is a very early example of the definitive version of the Modell 38, the H Modell, the H being for the Heer, who requested some modifications from the earlier 38 Modell.  As this pistol is not waffenamted, it was likely either an officer private purchase or possibly purchased by some other Government entity, such as the SA or some other Governmental security apparatus.  The H Modell was the apex of pocket pistol design and they have many features such as the de-cocker which would figure so much in later Sauer designs of the post war period.  This was a truly advanced and highly regarded pistol and it is highly sought after by collectors.  This very early example with the painted sights would be of significant interest to every serious pocket pistol collector.
