In excellent mint crisp condition, with a very rare and highly sought after “w” marked Universal Winding made receiver, we have a top example of a December, 1943 Underwood manufactured M1 Carbine. What really standouts on this example is the dark parkerzing of the sub-contracted receiver which contrasts from the light colored Underwood parkerizing, giving it a two tone appearance that is quite striking. This is from the 2nd block production run and has typical features of this period such as the high wood stock. This is a prime example with a great cartouche. Just a pristine example of one of the more sought after makers doubly rare because of the highly sought after sub-contractor made receiver .
