In 97%+ mint sharp condition, we have a late1944 Production Spreewerke Made cvq (broken die) “a” prefix P.38 Pistol. This is a late 1944 production pistol without the Cog Hammer and some very attractive cross hatching milling on the slide. The pistol in all matching and the very late mag with the ribbed follower. The bore is mint and the only appreciable wear is on the front gripstrap. This is a great example of the well known cvq die marking. In the early days of German pistol collecting this was thought to be a different code from cyq, that was perhaps from a another maker. It has been known for sometime that this marking is only the result of a partially broken stamping die, but these pistols are still a desirable variant for collectors. If you need a nice WW2 P.38 or are looking for a pistol from this maker this is a great choice.
