2 very important reference works have recently come out on German rifles and we are going to do reviews on both of them. The subject of this review was truly a labor of love for the compiler and author, the noted Luger dealer and German Training Rifle Collector Bob Simpson. His book “Training Rifles of Third Reich Germany” is a masterwork and it completely captures his knowledge of these rifles and also the complete historical context of there use through lavish and profuse use of period pictures which show them in action. The book is nearly 700 pages long but, it is very well arranged for quick reference or deep research. If you have any interest in collecting these rifles or any German military rifles of this period this book will provide you with copious amounts of knowledge and insight that you just cannot get from trolling the internet. This book will probably turn a lot of folks into collectors of these rifles and we expect there to be a lot more interest in them as this knowledge spreads.
