In excellent condition, we have a very desirable May, 1943 production US government contract Remington “THE SPORTSMAN” Riot Shotgun. Â This model in its commercial form was a cheaper version of the model 11 and only had a three shot magazine. Â They are much scarcer than the Model 11 Riot Shotguns. Â Â The barrel is military proofed and as with all of these guns in riot configuration it is cylinder bore and has a 3 shot capacity. Â These Browning designed semi-auto shotguns are the same gun as today’s Browning A5 shotguns and this has proven to be a design that has stood the test of time. Â During the war, these shotguns would be used by the Military Police to guard prisoners and installations. Â They were widely used by the Navy in various roles. Â This is a great WW2 combat shotgun. Â This shotgun is marked on the bottom of the Pistol Grip to the police force of Johnson County West Virginia, where it was used post war.
