In excellent minus condition, we have a very scarce early production M1941 Johnson Semi-Automatic Service Rifle. Â This is in one of the two known USMC issued serial number ranges, and it was said to have come out of the Fayetteville NC area and was known as a Marine corps used rifle that came from an old gunny. Â The bore is excellent. Â This rifle as you probably know was strongly considered as the next Army service rifle to replace the bolt action 03 Springfield. Â Ultimately the Garand was picked and although it was certainly the better all around rifle, the Johnson certainly had some good points as well. Â The decision was quite politicized at the time, and although it was not adopted by the Army, the Marine Corps ended up with a good number of them and they just loved them. Â The Marines thought well enough of the rifle that they advocated for its adoption but this thankfully never occurred as this was just too complicated a weapon for general issue. Â Everyone wants a Johnson for their collection and this is one that certainly was used by us in WW2.
