SOLD COLT 1911 US ARMY…..1918 PRODUCTION……POST WW1 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY REFURBISH…USED IN 2 WARS

This is a pretty interesting Colt 1911 and one you don’t see to often, we Have a late 1918 Black Army that was shipped to France in October 1918, and after the war it went to Springfield Armory for refurbishing, which consisted of replacing the barrel and re-finishing the pistol.  You will note the Springfield Armory post WW1 barrel has been installed.  The pistol was brought back from WW2, so it saw service in both wars.  From the time that WW2 began up until Late 1943 or early 1944, the most common pistol in use was the straight up Model of 1911 as there were so few 1911A1’s made before the outbreak of war.  Had this not been a WW2 bring back it would have likely been parkerized and rebuilt again post WW2.  As it is, its a very interesting pistol that you rarely ever see.
